Annual Blessing of the Animals

Sacred Heart Parish in Feeding Hills will hold its Annual Blessing of the Animals in the parking lot in front of our Parish Center at 1061 Springfield Street on October 5th at 10 AM in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Blessing of the Animals celebrates the important place that pets hold in the lives of our families; it also reminds us of the blessing of all God’s creatures. Please keep all pets on a leash or in crates so they don’t disturb other animals, all animals are welcome. Children may bring their stuffed animals for a blessing also. This year we are taking donations to support the needs of Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Shelter. Their wish list includes gently used blankets, dog/cat beds, canned dog/cat food, dog chews, all meat baby food, spray cheese and postage stamps. Genesis 1:30 “And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it-I give green plant for food.” There will be a pet corral available to put all donations in. If you have any questions, please call our Pastoral Minister Deb Briancesco at 786-8200 ext 3.
